The VOSS News warmly welcomes guest posts on its website. All submitted News will be published only after verification from our editorial desk. Here we will show you all the guidelines. Are you a blogger, writer, or freelancer with a great idea? We’d love to hear it. VOSS NEWS accepts pitches for original reporting, essays, reviews, and features.

What we’re not looking for:

• Pre-written pieces. We want to work closely with writers on developing stories specifically with our audience in mind, and we do accept any original work that’s been completed in advance of the pitch. If your work has been published somewhere, let us know.

How to pitch

We encourage everyone to read the following general tips before pitching our publication.

1. What’s your headline?
2. Why are you the best person to tell this story?
3. Tell us why your story will attract an audience.

Article Guidelines 

• Heading: 10 to 13 statement words.
• Subheading: 25 to 30 statement words.
• First Paragraph: 60 statement words.
• The word count per post is between 800 – 1500 words, and is good to start.

Featured Image of the article

• Featured image: 1170 × 573 px
• Inside article: 370 × 463 px
• File size: 2-5 MB
• Current source: (Name of the file image)

• Brief synopsis: (Including suggestions for interviews)

• Explain why you think this would be interesting for VOSS NEWS readers.

• A rough deadline

• An outline of your journalistic experience to date

• At least one example of a piece of original work and/or references

• If you have any personal or commercial interest in the subject, you should make this clear to the editor.

Are you a blogger, writer, or content contributor who’d like to have your work featured on the VOSS NEWS Website? Did you see something interesting or inspiring that you think others might enjoy? Do you want to share it with the rest of the world? Great!

How it works

Guest articles usually lead with an idea — an argument to think about something in a new way — or are presented in the form of a story. 

How’s how:

1. Ensure the file containing your draft article is in .doc form or that the article text is copied and pasted into the email.

2. Attach a short biography of yourself, a photograph for the biography, and any social media links you would attach to your profile.

3. Specify exactly what your article is about in two or three sentences and why you feel it’s an important topic and should be published by VOSS NEWS.

Note: Please, by submitting an article to VOSS NEWS, you agree to let VOSS NEWS know if it has previously been published elsewhere, including in the form of a blog or social media post.

If your article is accepted and is published by VOSS NEWS, you must also let VOSS NEWS know if you intend to republish the article with any other media industry.

Here’s how:

• Write a short email with basic information about you and your project. Tell us you took it on and what you hope others get out of it. If there is a meaningful story behind it, please share it with us.

• Include a link to the work (Your website, Facebook, Flickr Page, etc.).

• Attach two or three JPEGs at 750-pixel width. If it’s a series, and we’re interested, we’ll ask for more.

The structure of your story or article could go something like this:

• State your proposition or question in the heading and opening sentences

• Explain the current state of thinking, and how your proposition or question changes this

• Back up your proposition or lay out your question with an argument

• Base your argument on facts and research

• Finish with a call to action — asking readers to build upon your idea, for example.

Story Idea

To submit a story for consideration, please email us at: editor(at)vossnews.com with the subject line The MUSE PITCH: ‘STORY IDEA” with the following information at the end of your Story Idea content:

• A bit about you: Tell us about yourself, the experiences you must share, and why you’re the right person to write this article.

• Your idea: Pitch us your article idea. Tell us the title, write out a sample introduction, and then briefly outline how you would approach the rest of the piece, including any experts or sources you would include. Please don’t send a full draft.

• Links to your previous work: Send us 3–5 samples of your previous writing. Consider the pitch above your writing sample if you’ve never written before.

• Your LinkedIn Profile: The internet’s a funny/wacky place, and we want to make sure you are who you say you are. The best way for us to do that is to look at your active profile. If you don’t have a LinkedIn account, you may let us know with the account/page you’re well-known by.
